Remarks:
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) recruits, trains and supervises Volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in Juvenile Court. CASA Volunteers have the authority of the court to see all records and talk to all people concerning the child. CASA Volunteers then prepare a comprehensive, objective report to recommend what is in the best interest of the child. The mission of CASA is to ensure that every child has a safe, permanent and loving home.

Mr. Boggs again will carry us back to Mr. Lincoln's day when the country was divided and at war. Mr. Boggs has studied Abraham Lincoln, dresses in the fashion of that day even with Mr. Lincoln's stove pipe hat. Hearing him speak is like going back in history and seeing the man in person.

State Historian Walter T. Durham
Remarks:
Lynne Laster will introduce State Historian Walter T. Durham, who will present a program on the Early Settlement in Nashville. The office of State Historian was established by act of the General Assembly in 1955. Mr. Durham is the author of many articles and seventeen books on Tennessee history subjects. He has also published a study of the state’s historical agencies and their activities. The State Historian is appointed by the Governor for a term of four years. The office is honorary and without compensation and is administratively attached to the State Library and Archives. It is the State Historian’s statutory duty “to prepare for publication and to disseminate historical data upon Tennessee history, past and present.”

District Governor Bobby Davis
Remarks:
District Governor Bobby Davis has been a member of the Rotary Club of Kingston since 2002. He graduated from the District Leadership Academy in 2007, served on the District Membership Committee during 2006-07, and chaired the District Disaster Response Committee in 2007-08. He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the Paul Harris Society, and a Rotary Foundation Benefactor. He is retired from Federal service, having worked for over 36 years in a variety of staff, supervisory, and management positions. He has two children, four grandchildren, and is married to Dr. Deborah Alexander-Davis, an adjunct professor for Tennessee Technological University and Tusculum College, and a Senior Research Associate for the University of Tennessee.

They provide a recreational horseback riding program designed to improve the quality of life for individuals with physical and/or mental challenges.
